Growing up in Illinois amid a family of educators, it could be said that my career in education was inevitable. My grandfather was the superintendent of a small community school, and both my grandmother and mother were school teachers as well. After an initial rebellion against the education profession (I tried 5 different majors in college), I couldn’t deny my roots any longer. I answered the calling and became a teacher!
As a Reading Recovery (R) teacher, I discovered my passion: reading (second only to a good cup of coffee). I have since had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten and ELL, and work as a Reading Specialist/Coach. My role as a reading coach further developed my passions, which ultimately evolved into a new career path: coaching, presenting, and working alongside my colleagues!
For the last 10 years, I have been presenting at conferences and workshops, and teaching in schools across the country. I am currently the Director of Professional Development for Benchmark Education.
When I am not at my computer, presenting in schools, or sitting in airports, I enjoy spending time with my two amazing children and awesome husband!
